JulOnce a deal is won and the opportunity is closed-won, you can further manage the relationship with the customer after the Contract is generated. Salesforce CPQ allows you to make changes in products purchased by the customer via amendments and ensures continued service via renewals.
But how do these two interact? Suppose you need to amend a Contract that has the Renewal Opportunity created but doesn't have the Renewal Quote generated yet (Renewal Forecast checkbox on the Contract is set to TRUE, and the Renewal Quoted checkbox on the Contract is set to FALSE)? In this scenario, the amendment is synchronized with the Renewal Opportunity because any add-ons or amendments will update the Renewal Opportunity automatically to reflect the new product quantities.
However, suppose Renewal Quote is already generated (Renewal Quoted checkbox on the Contract is set to TRUE). It is assumed that the renewal is being actively negotiated, and in order not to overwrite someone's work, Salesforce CPQ doesn't automatically update the Renewal Opportunity with the additional amendments to the current Contract.
In this case, you'd need to re-quote the Renewal (set Renewal Quoted to False, save, then set again to TRUE and save again). To enforce it, you could create an automation to either give a warning or send an email to the Renewals team to let them know they need to re-create the renewal quote. Alternatively, you can hide the Amend action once the Renewal Quoted is checked. This can be easily done by clicking Setup (gear icon) while on a Contract record and going to Edit Page. In the Highlights Panel properties pane, click Upgrade Now to enable Dynamic Actions and then add the necessary visibility filter: "Renewal Quoted Equal False".
Thus, the Amend action will be visible only if the Renewal Quote hasn't been generated yet.
